Decatur Macon County Opportunities Corporation (DMCOC) will be unveiling a new logo this Thursday, August 24. The unveiling of the new logo for DMCOC will be in the front of the building at 10:00 am.
The logo design contest began in late June. It gave the community an opportunity to submit concepts by July 20. The DMCOC board reviewed all of the submitted logo concepts and selected the winning design in early August. Creative Media Services, Inc. in Decatur designed the winning logo. The design met all of the specified criteria. The new logo will be easily recognizable with the bold DMCOC letters while remaining timeless in the years ahead.
The new logo will continue to use the maroon and gold colors from the older logo while incorporating the heart and hands graphics. The heart and hands embodies the spirit of hope. It will help make the community a better place to live while helping others in the fight against poverty. The slogan: Helping People. Changing Lives. will be used in various forms to help communicate the DMCOC mission.
The second event is Friday, August 25th and it encompasses a large community-wide fundraiser at New Horizon Family & Child Developmental Center and Anna Waters Head Start located at 275 E. Condit Street in Decatur. “Safety Over the Horizon” fundraiser is from 4 to 8 pm. It will help DMCOC raise enough money to build a bus driveway. This will move the buses off of the busy, narrow street so that parents and children will be safer when dropping off or picking up their children.
“Safety Over the Horizon” will have family games, prizes, craft vendors, and food, Sally the Clown & her Safety Magic Show and plenty of fun for all who come. There will be a friendly competition between Chicago and St. Louis fans to see which side can raise the most money. Decatur Police Department and Fire Departments will be on hand with demonstrations.
DMCOC building address is: 1122 E. Marietta St., Decatur.
